Concept-specific guidance for airports

  • Updated

Please see below for strategies created to support airport projects:

  • Air concept
    • A09 Part 1, Alternative Adherence Path (AAP #00065):
      • As an alternative to meeting the requirements in Part 1, airport projects may satisfy Part 1 of this feature by reducing air infiltration where baggage conveyors belts enter the passenger hall as follows:
        • Using strip curtains at all times.
        • Using doors that are closed when the baggage conveyor is not operating.
  • A10 Part 1, Alternative Adherence Path (AAP #00066):
    • As an alternative to meeting the requirements of low-emission combustion sources and engine exhaust reduction, airport projects may meet these options by providing ground power units for at least 33% of aircraft berths and utilizing at least 66% electric baggage tugs. (Note: the appliance and heater combustion ban still applies.)
  • Water concept
    • W06 Part 1, Alternative Adherence Path (AAP #00064):
      • Instead of providing drinking water dispensers to leased spaces and complying with the spacing requirement (a) stated in ‘Dispenser availability’, WELL Core airports with at least five tenants may provide drinking water dispensers in non-leased spaces within a 295 ft (90 m) walking distance of all occupiable floor area.
  • Materials concept
    • X10 Part 1, Alternative Adherence Path (AAP #00063):
      • For airports, pesticides used towards meeting bird control regulations may be exempt from the chemical restrictions stated in requirement b. However, products must be listed in the pest management plan.
