Some WELL features reference regularly occupied space. Regularly occupied space is defined as an area inside the project where a given person normally spends at least one continuous hour or cumulatively at least two hours of their day.
For airports, regularly occupied spaces include dwell areas that could potentially be occupied for one hour or more. This includes spaces like:
- Baggage claim areas
- Security zones
- Check-in and bag-drop areas
- Departure lounges
- International Departure Lounge
- Executive lounges
- Prayer rooms
- Meditation rooms
- Arrivals areas
- Immigration areas
- People Restricted Movement areas
- Main passenger circulation areas in front of house
Rooms larger than 10,000 ft2 (930 m2) may be divided into separate zones of at least 3,500 ft2 (325 m2) each, which may be evaluated for occupancy independently. For example, a large room may contain one or more smaller areas (i.e., zones) which are regularly occupied while the remaining area is not. In this case, you may identify and label these zones within their floor plan and apply features and performance testing requirements accordingly.
