Learn more about the WELL at scale documentation process.

Each WELL feature lists a verification method, which is the type of documentation (or performance testing) that is required in order to achieve it. In your WELL scorecard, click on a feature to expand it. In this requirements view, you will see the feature-specific documents required for each feature part.
For example, for feature A02.1 Smoke-Free Environment, you’ll see in the screenshot below that the verification method is a Policy Document. Policy Documents can be shared. For any features you’re pursuing in a review cycle, take note of the verification methods required.

Yes, documents may apply to multiple WELL features. If that is the case, make sure to annotate the relevant WELL requirements within the document and tag the document to all the WELL features that are included. See our annotation guide for more information–to learn more about how to use the documentation annotation guide, watch this instructional video.
Read more about submitting documentation for multiple locations. You can also assign previously uploaded documents to additional locations.

As detailed in the WELL Guidebook, some documents are subject to an audit for location-specific documentation to confirm compliance with the feature. Rather than submitting the document for every relevant feature pursued, you may indicate that you will pursue these features in the WELL digital platform and provide the required documentation for the locations selected for audit.
After you indicate which locations are pursuing a specific feature part, a task will automatically appear on your Scorecard and in your Documents Library stating which locations require audit documentation.
For example, feature part L04.1 requires an audit. In this case, 4 locations are pursuing this feature part. Audit documentation is required for 2 of these locations.
Click the number of locations in the Tasks section to find out which locations have been selected. When you’re ready to submit your documentation, click the Upload button.

Yes, that is one of the benefits of applying WELL at scale. Performance testing results can be submitted concurrently with documentation for review. Please include all applicable performance testing results and supplemental testing data.
- Yes, provided the document is designated as shareable for the program, you can assign that already-approved document to any other subscribed locations in future review cycles. They will automatically be awarded the point(s) from that feature. If it is an audited document, then new audits will be required and you would need to also provide the required number of location-specific documents.
-
All approved WELL feature documents are valid for three years. After that time, your WELL team must undertake feature re-verification by either validating that the original documentation is still accurate or uploading updated documentation for review.
-
Precertification is a milestone achievement that allows locations (completed or not yet completed) to demonstrate alignment with the strategies required for WELL Certification before all of the strategies are actually implemented. Precertification requires that a location demonstrate alignment with all preconditions and at least the minimum number of points required for baseline WELL Certification.
The documentation submitted for Precertification can be all Intent-based documentation or a combination of Intent and Implementation-based documentation. Intent-based documentation describes intended design, construction and operational strategies for a location that have not yet been implemented. Intent-based documentation can be shared for features with Shareable or Audited documents.

In order to pursue a WELL Rating (Health-Safety, Performance or Equity Rating), click on the corresponding tab on the left navigation in your WELL dashboard. Explore the WELL Rating and let us know whether you plan to submit documentation in one of your regular WELL reviews (no fee), or if you want to schedule a separate review (additional fees apply). Then upload documentation to the WELL Rating scorecard and submit for review.
You can submit a WELL Rating review during a WELL Review Cycle by selecting the ratings that will be included in the review from the dropdown when you click the Submit Review button the Reviews tab. You may make multiple selections.
Please note that any milestones, including WELL Ratings, may only be awarded at the end of a review cycle (not during the preliminary round) unless a location has achieved sufficient features to achieve a milestone after the first round of review and accepts the review as final.

For WELL Rating renewals, please contact your coach for support via the Support tab in your WELL account. See the Rating renewal under WELL at scale page for more details.
