Are you experiencing a challenge in meeting one of WELL's feature requirements as written? That's where alternative approaches can help.
WELL recognizes the complexity involved in fully addressing all dimensions of health and the variety of ways different projects can promote health for their populations, so we provide opportunities for creativity and efficiency through accepted alternative options (listed below).
Crosswalks
IWBI provides a growing library of crosswalks, a tool that outlines aligned or equivalent features from other rating systems that can be submitted in place of WELL's verification methods to save you time.
Streamline documentation submission with approved crosswalks for your project.
Alternative adherence paths (AAPs)
IWBI empowers organizations to be creative in finding ways to apply WELL strategies that may seem challenging at first glance. By focusing on a feature’s health intent, projects can submit a proposal for unique strategies that achieve the same objective.
Overcome challenges by using a published alternative adherence path or submit your own proposal for review.
Equivalencies
IWBI evaluates and publishes a global list of approved programs and standards that projects can use in place of those explicitly mentioned in WELL features. This makes it easier for projects to utilize a program or standard that is local to the project.
Leverage regional and local adaptations by using an approved equivalency or pre-approved program, or submit your own proposal for review.
