Submit an appeal

  • Updated

Learn how to submit an appeal, if needed, after receipt of your Documentation Review or Performance Review.

You can submit an appeal when you want to:

  • Challenge any findings in the Documentation Review or Performance Review

  • Submit new features for review following return of the final documentation report.

Appeals are considered a separate review and cannot be conducted at the same time as a documentation or performance review.

When does an appeal occur?

You must submit any appeals within 180 calendar days of the date of issuance of the WELL report.

How do I submit an appeal?

You can submit an appeal through your WELL account under the Review tab.

  1. First, upload documentation for your appeals through the Documents tab. If you plan to submit multiple appeals at the same time, upload documentation for all of your appeals before continuing.

    • Be sure to select the Feature Part of the features you are submitting an appeal for from the dropdown menu.Submit an appeal 1.jpg

  2. Open your project dashboard and go to the Review tab.

  3. Click the Submit Review button > select Documentation Appeal Review or Performance Verification Appeal Review, depending on which type of appeal you are submitting, as the project phase.Submit an appeal 2.jpg

  4. Make sure you provide your comments to identify the reason for the appeal and the specific feature part(s).  Submit an appeal 3.jpg

How long does an appeal take?

GBCI will respond with an appeal review report within 15 business days. You may either accept or appeal the review report. Subsequent appeals are limited to one per feature and must be submitted within 90 calendar days of the issuance of the review report.

How much does it cost to submit an appeal?

There is a $1,500 fee per appeal review. One appeal can include as many features as necessary. For any appeals in which it was determined that there was an error on the part of the reviewer, this fee will be waived. Re-testing fees are separate and are set by the performance testing organization.

When appealing a decision you believe was made in error (i.e., challenging a finding from a previous review), you should wait to pay your appeal review invoice fee until you have received your Appeal Review. If the appeal for the feature is approved, you are not responsible for the fee, and the invoice will be waived. If the appeal is not approved, you are responsible for the $1,500 fee.
