Celebrate your WELL achievement

  • Updated

Congratulations! Your project is joining a select group of buildings and spaces that are enhancing human health and wellness through the WELL Building Standard. If you are looking to tell your organization's story, here are some ideas to help get you started.

Profile your project on our website

  • IWBI welcomes you to showcase your project as a leader in advancing healthy buildings or communities on the WELL project directory. In order to be featured, the project admin can upload a project description and photos in WELL Online. Don’t forget to mark your project as “public.” There are several questions that can be used to guide you in promoting your project outlined in WELL Online.

How to reference WELL

Consult the WELL Branding Guidelines for logo and mark usage.

  • The official organization name is the International WELL Building Institute pbc™. “IWBI™” is the official acronym. Use the complete name on any first reference. Subsequent references in copy may use IWBI.

Note: When using “IWBI” as a noun, do not precede with “the.” For example: Contact IWBI™ for more information.

    A note about WELL-registered projects

WELL-registered projects have been registered with the intent of earning WELL Certification for their project once it is complete. A project that is registered can only be referred to as WELL-registered and is not authorized to use the WELL Certified™ seals and/or logo. Registered projects may promote themselves in text (press releases, social posts, marketing brochures, etc.) using these PR guidelines and will be eligible to the use the WELL Certification mark once they achieve WELL Certification.

  • Certification and WELL at scale

    • WELL at scale

      Communication guidelines

        • Do say (as applicable):
          • [Organization] is commited to WELL at scale
          • [Organization] is a WELL at scale participant
        • Don't say
          • Do not associate a WELL at scale commitment with certification. Only use the terms "certification" or "rating" when referencing specific locations that have earned the WELL Certification or WELL Rating mark, i.e. [Organization] is a WELL at scale participant with 6 locations that achieved WELL Certification.

      WELL Score

      Third-party application

The WELL Score can only be leveraged by active enterprise subscribers of WELL at scale. The score should accurately reflect the current progress of the organization as noted in their WELL online account or annual report.

      Digital guidelines

The WELL Score visuals should always be displayed as-is, with appropriate sizing and no modification (stretching, separation, modifying any colors). To maintain legibility, the WELL Score should never be used at a width of less than 200px. Visuals should always be scaled to equal proportions to prevent any stretching.

      Communication guidelines

      Do say

      • [Organization] has a WELL Score of [number]
      • [Organization's] WELL Score is a reflection of their commitment to the health and well-being of their people

      Don't say

      • [Location] has a WELL Score
      • [Organization] has achieved a WELL Score

      The WELL at scale mark

The WELL at scale mark may only be used by active organizations during their subscription term who have met the subscription criteria and have successfully completed registration. The mark can only be used to represent the organization's commitment digitally or on printed marketing materials to accurately illustrate its commitment to participation in the WELL at scale program and implementing WELL Standard strategies at scale. It should not be adhered to any building surface to imply the building is WELL at scale, or used or displayed in any manner that suggests achievement by the organization or by any location or locations of a WELL achievement. It should always be used as-is, with appropriate sizing (150 px) and no modification (stretching, separation, modifying any colors to the mark's elements). All permissions to use the mark cease and the mark must be removed immediately upon the organization exiting the WELL at scale program. Unauthorized use of the WELL at scale mark could constitute both breach of the WELL at scale agreement and intellectual property infringement.

    Upon achieving recertification

Congratulations for achieving recertification. It’s time to celebrate your three years of continuous effort and upkeep.

    • Recertification signals that a project has maintained its commitment to the principles of and confirmed continued compliance with the WELL Building Standard, as certification is valid for three years. Projects are only eligible for recertification if all on-going monitoring, incremental progress and annual submission requirements have been met. Once recertified, a project’s certification status may continue and it will be permitted to continue to use IWBI materials and resources to promote its current certification status.
    • There are different options available depending on whether a project has achieved initial certification under WELL v1 or WELL v2. An organization may opt to recertify at WELL v1, transition from WELL v1 to WELL v2 if they fulfill the additional obligations required, or recertify at WELL v2. WELL Core & Shell as well as WELL Core projects can also achieve recertification if they fulfill all necessary requirements.

Brand guidelines and seal usage requirements

The WELL Equity Rating™ seal consists of arcs assembled around the text “WELL Equity Rated'' along with the year that the designation was achieved. The arcs are reminiscent of those within the WELL Certification seal, and reflect the fact that the WELL Equity Rating criteria is made up of a subset of relevant features from the WELL Building Standard.

The WELL Equity Rating seal may only be used by projects that have achieved the rating for the year or year(s) indicated. Achievement of the rating is finalized when the project team confirms the WELL Equity Rating report is final. The rating is valid for one year. To remain an active WELL Equity Rated project and to be eligible to receive seals of achievement each year, the enrollment must be renewed annually and all rating requirements must continue to be met.

Enrolled projects that have not yet completed the WELL Equity Rating process or those that mark themselves as private within the WELL digital platform are not permitted to use the seal in any capacity.

Projects that have successfully achieved the designation will receive a WELL Equity Rating digital mark, as well as the opportunity to purchase or receive complimentary printed seals for onsite display directly from IWBI.

For additional guidance on the use of the WELL Equity Rating mark on websites, digital assets and hard copy collateral, as well as information about colors, please view the IWBI Brand and Style Guidelines.

Printed seal guidelines for onsite display

The following guidelines pertain to physical, printed seals displayed on the interior or exterior of a WELL Equity Rated space.

    • All printed seals must be ordered directly through IWBI. To maintain seal integrity, WELL Equity Rated projects may only use the seals as provided by IWBI pursuant to IWBI instructions. Printing seals, creating stickers not provided by IWBI or any other use not explicitly permitted by IWBI in writing are are not permitted and constitute both a violation of the WELL Equity Agreement and intellectual property infringement.
    • The WELL Equity seal displayed on site must indicate the year(s) of their achievement. If a project achieves the WELL Equity Rating for multiple years, they may choose to display the most recent achievement or the original achievement alongside the most recent achievement.
    • The printed seal should be displayed prominently at the entrance of the building (e.g., front windows or doors). The seal should face outward and be placed between 4 and 6 feet above the ground, so that anyone who enters your space can see that your location is WELL Equity Rated. Keep the flow of traffic in mind when placing your seal.

Digital mark guidelines for marketing purposes

The following guidelines pertain to the use of the WELL Equity Rating digital mark in marketing materials, website visuals and digital and hard copy collateral only.

    • The digital mark should only be used in digital or printed marketing materials. WELL Equity Rated projects are not permitted to leverage the digital mark to print their own stickers for display on the interior or exterior of a space.
    • WELL Equity Rated projects should only use the seal or seals that correspond with the year(s) of their achievement. If a project achieves the WELL Equity Rating for multiple years, they may choose to use each graphic seal they earn in their marketing materials, or simply the most recent.
    • Enrolled projects that have not yet completed the WELL Equity Rating process or those that mark themselves as private within the WELL digital platform are not permitted to use the seal in any capacity.
    • WELL Equity Rating seals are awarded to specific buildings/spaces, not to entire companies, at a portfolio level or for multiple buildings. Project teams should only use the WELL Equity Rating seal in marketing materials to represent the specific project(s) that has achieved it, and may not imply in graphics or words that the mark applies to an entire company or portfolio.
    • Seal integrity: The WELL Equity Rating seals should always be used as-is, with appropriate sizing (see below for guidance), with no modification (stretching, separation, modifying any colors) to the mark's elements.
    • Seal colors: The marks associated with the WELL Equity Rating seals should be used in only the colors displayed. Seals are offered in blue (#79a5c6) and transparent white.
    • Seal sizing: To maintain legibility, the WELL Equity Rating seals should never be used at a width of less than 200px. The seals should always be scaled to equal proportions to ensure no stretching occurs.
    • Clear space: The clear space should never be less than 50px. Clear space standards are provided in order to ensure that the WELL Equity Rating seals are clearly distinguishable in all applications.
