What are addenda?

WELL evolves through the quarterly addenda process. Addenda help to clarify, correct or amend feature language and WELL program rules. Simply put, addenda aim to streamline the WELL journey. Addenda may contain updates such as:

  • Corrections, changes or improvements to feature language

  • New or revised alternative adherence paths and equivalencies

  • Adjustments or clarifications to program rules or the guidebooks

  • New strategies (beta features or parts) or innovation pathways

  • Updates to tools/resources (e.g., crosswalks, skybridge)

I am a prospective client, how does the addenda impact me?

By default, the WELL Addenda version that was current upon paid enrollment/subscription is applicable to the enrolled or subscribed location(s). Administrators may choose to update to a newer addendum for any or all features. For more information on how to find the addenda version that applies to your project, explore this article.

Projects are enrolled under the addenda version in place when their invoice was paid, unless the project team chooses to adopt a newer version. Project teams can easily adopt a more recent addenda version and have their scorecard update to display the latest feature language.

How often are addenda released?

WELL Addenda are released on a quarterly basis. Release dates/schedules are fluid and responsive to the needs of the market and are often connected with program development work such as the release of a new WELL Rating or other substantial update.

Who are addenda for?

The quarterly addenda are helpful resources for any project pursuing a WELL Certification, accreditation or rating.

Where can I learn more about what is new/has changed in a given addenda?

WELL Addenda are paired with educational resources and communication to help our customers and users understand the changes. You can read more about the updates made through each quarterly addenda on the Previous addenda page of the knowledge base. In the toolkit, you will also find links to helpful resources and an article explaining key changes.
