Once your project has achieved a WELL milestone, hosting an event is a great way to celebrate! A WELL ceremony can help promote your achievement, inform stakeholders about your accomplishments, and recognize all of the hard work your team has invested into the project. In this article, you’ll find some tips to host a successful ceremony.
Set an agenda
We recommend at least an hour for the ceremony. Here’s an example of a typical agenda:
Welcome
Introduce the audience to the topic of discussion more generally: the importance of health and well-being to the company, background on joining the WELL program, etc.
Shout-out the WELL project team in the audience and thank them for their contributions.
IWBI representative
If an IWBI representative is present, they can introduce IWBI, WELL, and our mission, and offer to add special remarks during the celebration that are customized to this project. To request an IWBI speaker, complete the IWBI speaker request form as far in advance as possible.
Overview of project
Share about the project’s WELL journey, including stories that showcase the process and success, challenges, and thought-provoking discussions along the way. Include specific features that are incorporated into the project and educate attendees about the importance and impact of these strategies (both features that are visible in the physical space and “hidden” features that cannot be seen, such as policies or air quality).
If the project is part of a WELL at scale subscription: Give context about broader organization-level engagement.
Presentation of WELL Score/award/plaque/certificate
If your project has received any physical plaques/seals/certificates, this provides a great photo opp.
Tour of the space
Conduct a tour of the space. Be sure to point out the WELL features your project achieved!
Reception
Consider serving healthy snacks and beverages at the event.
Consider inviting the project team and other key stakeholders
- IWBI representative: Submit a speaker request form to IWBI in advance to ensure IWBI staff member can join
- Owner team
- Employees working in the WELL space
- Architect, MEP, acoustic/lighting designers, etc.
- Landlord/building owner
- Photographer for photos during the session and to share afterwards
- PR team members
- Depending on who joins, remember to customize the agenda and remarks–what do WELL and this project mean to the people in the room? Consider each perspective.
